A Well-chalked Career Decision after Class XII is Crucial to Achieve Your Dreams

The long-awaited decision of canceling class XII board exams amid the COVID-19 pandemic came on 2nd June. This put at rest the examination-related anxiety of students but pushed them into another state of confusion regarding the mode of assessment and evaluation criteria. Many debates have followed pertaining to the consequences of such a decision for students. The institutes of higher education have clearly stated no-compromise policy on the merit of the student for admission. The admission process will soon begin. Get a glimpse of what opportunities await you in this article.

Career Decision: Three Crucial Stages

A very conscious career planning right from the beginning to ultimately leading to a satisfying job is a must for every student after class XII.

Career decision is the most important component for success and satisfaction in life. There are three major stages when you have to decide what you want to be or what you will be in life. These stages are 1) Choosing the right stream after class X, 2) Choosing the right course/program after class XII, and 3) Selecting the right profession after completing formal education.

So, you may realize that you are at the second crucial stage of your career planning. You must decide carefully the career path and the relevant course after class XII to give a definitive shape to your career.

Deciding is Important

While there are many career avenues, assessing one’s options carefully is a must. Sometimes, options may seem scarce but deciding the right thing based on your past performance, aptitude, and personality becomes even more important amid the scarcity of opportunities.

Making the right decisions are all the more important when there are many options. Sometimes students ask if they should apply for all the entrance examinations for which they are eligible. Well, I would suggest they should apply if they can as that helps in narrowing down the choices.

    • Good question Priyanshi! Many like you wonder why such a gender discriminating rule in armed forces! There are many justifiable/unjustifiable reasons cited by the armed forces for non-inclusion of girls in the ranks. The Indian Armed Forces currently doesn’t allow girls in combat positions and officer ranks for permanent commission. Since NDA is the entrance for training academy for officers cadets in permanent commission, the examination doesn’t allow girls. However, a decision regarding this is still pending in the supreme court (in response to a PIL) and the situation might change in near future. But if a girl wishes to enter defence services, she may qualify Short Service Commission (SSC) exam after completing her graduation. After this, a 10 months training period is to be completed before getting inducted as an officer in the armed forces.
